EDITORIAL:         What is Actually Happening?

We hear that post- lockdown businesses can’t find workers while U.S. current unemployment is 4.8%.  If over 95% of the work force is back to work, how is there a worker shortage?  Record numbers of young adults have moved back to live with their parents, even more than in the Great Depression. Why, when so many employers are desperate to hire them? And how does this fit with telling employers to fire unvaccinated workers?

Bankruptcies are down amidst generous, wide scale government bailouts, but those were borrowed money, now owed by taxpayers who already owed some quarter of a million dollars of Federal debt each. Facing that, the U.S. Congress is toying with trillions in new spending just as we hear that the U.S. economy has been in recession since February. Plus, the notion that the Feds can spend us rich by putting us further into debt is a scam.

Then there’s the suddenly looming world-wide energy shortage: Last winter we were warm; suddenly we are going to freeze in the coming winter? We note too that the illegal immigrant population has come to exceed ten percent of us. For us, none of these numbers are comforting; we wonder what is actually going on … and particularly, what is next?
