EDITORIAL:         The Pretend Economy Dies Post Election                                 The 32 million unemployment filings triggered by the pandemic also represent much lost business income and lost government tax revenue. The cornucopia of government payments and loans showered upon the economy is borrowed money that must be repaid with interest by the recipients and their descendants. Meantime, the government must borrow more to continue operating until the borrowings are repaid. All the student loans, credit card debt, auto loans and mortgages that have been put on hold during the pandemic lockdown will come due again, too. The end of the pandemic emergency provisions that have dammed up all the delinquencies and delayed repayment until after the coming presidential election will drop into our economic punchbowl.  What should we expect from some Monday morning post election, when financial let’s pretend comes face to face with reality?
