EDITORIAL:         The “Reopened” Economy

The U.S. and much of the world economy will be more rebuilt than reopened. It will take time and it will never r duplicate its predecessor. Politicians will blame this on the pandemic; the reality makes the virus only a trigger that provided an opportunity to avoid responsibility for accumulated financial mismanagement of decades.

The healthcare system will reopen to non-COVID patients at a lower level of service for a larger number of people; the rationing of care will be increased. As predicted earlier, seniors will notably demoted and the more heroic last ditch life saving measures will pass out of normal use. Euthanasia and assisted suicide will continue to expand.

The current attempt to replace in-person voting in the U.S with mailed ballots points to  real problems with the present system. Both voting machines and voter rolls need improvement for confidence to be maintained in the future. The direction this takes may be telling …
