EDITIRIAL: President Trump’s Syria Decision
The U.S. military is in Syria illegally, on borrowed money and without a publicly definable goal. Any actual goal accomplished would almost certainly endure only as long as U.S. military presence. The President’s decision seems correct. The Kurds are an indigestible minority ill-treated by Arabs and Turks and unfortunately, unable to cooperate with each otger enough to protect themselves. Using them to fault the President’s decision is only distraction from realities. Extending U.S. operations in Syria will waste American lives and treasure.
