EDITORIAL: A Dismal (and Unmentionable) Truth about “Medicare for All”

Medicare is welfare for seniors, emplaced because that demographic has the greatest medical need at a time when resources are usually diminished. The addition of larger numbers of younger beneficiaries with Obamacare was an enormous cost increase; over $700 billion of that was covered at the expense of Medicare. When larger numbers of voters are added to the handout list, the seniors are thrown under the bus.

Seniors are high cost, low producers outnumbered at the polls by increasingly financially needy younger voters; senior healthcare trends toward hospice care, assisted suicide, etc. The transition is already observable for those paying attention. It is inevitable, as is the reluctance to discuss it.
