Staged Excitement At A Boring Show … (Election 2016, A Summer Rerun?)

"Hey, wake up! We're not that bad and boring!!"The Republican wing of the US national political oligarchy is naturally anti-Obama. The Democrat wing is stuck between pro-Obama and pro-Hillary. Those folk are struggling now to decide whether they can be pro-Hillary without being anti-Obama That is why Democrats may sound confused now.

Republicans are free to offer a full menu including Jeb Bush at one end and Ted Cruz at the other, with Rand Paul, Scott Walker and Marco Rubio between.

We suppose the reality is for Democrats, how to dump Hillary without being seen as anti-woman and for Republicans, how to dump the Tea Party without being seen as anti- US Constitution.  For both: A neat trick if you can manage it.

Both share one thing: They prefer that the other side produce the next Herbert Hoover. That is, holding the bag for the next financial crisis.  This accounts for the less-than-fully enthusiastic supporters lined up in each case. It’s like a struggle for a seat on the next flight of Malaysian Airlines.

It is fun to watch the Lefty media trying to find an alternative to Hillary without appearing sexist. And likewise for any small, private GOP website trying to find alternatives for Congressional RINO’s (Republican in name only) without resembling minions of the now  “extremist” Tea Party. Such is reality when produced to order by political parties.

This is the best we have been able to come up with for populating American government? Apparently so. And based upon the history that we note, is no longer taught in public schools, it does seem to improve upon  awaiting the eldest son of the last king to assume the throne.  By a little, anyway.

Meanwhile, Hillary plods through her tired, predictable motions like an annoyed sonambulist and GOP “hopefuls”  try not to act resigned. And the about to again become voters seem to proceed about their business of survival with forgivably blase’ ennui.

The excitement builds apace; what else can it do, given its below zero start point? It’s all a show, it’s an aging script and the theater-goers have seen it all before. It reminds of the TV summer reruns following the end of the sponsored season …

About Jack Curtis
