Gleanings From The Passing Scene … (Politically Uncorrected)

Alfred_E__NeumannWe glean; you select:

Obama re Drugs: The Prez opined that treating drug users as criminals is counterproductive. We have to agree (for a change) as all those prisoners and all that expense haven’t kept drugs out of even, middle schools.

Gallup CEO:  The polling chief said that available jobs are at a historic low as % of population. (He wonders whether he will suddenly ‘disappear’ after annoying the White House by publishing the statistic.)

A New Drug for breast cancer is described as: “Groundbreaking.” (We thought this worth saying twice.)

Global Warming Data published by NASA and the UN are faked, though the U.S. media haven’t noticed. (Worth publishing until the nonsense stops?)

Robot Attacks Woman! Well, a robot vacuum cleaner sucked up her hair while she slept. (We knew the machines were after us …)

A Driver was caught using a laptop, phone and earphones while driving. Practicing multitasking …

A Water Manager  in San Francisco was  caught urinating into a reservoir. Hmnn … Ever wonder what waiters do?

The IRS seized a woman’s inheritance from her husband. She had deposited the $16,000 in three less than $10,000 installments; that’s illegal. Aren’t you glad the government is protecting you?

The new “just wave it” credit cards are vulnerable to  Card Hackers .

The linked Map shows how much social media (Twitter, Facebook) are censored around the world. (With the FCC, the FTC and the FEC all pushing to “regulate” the Internet, we may not need the map …)

NE Snow is alarming weather folk; was Drayson right? (He predicted another ice age when magnetic north started to drift, which it is now doing.)

A Dutch Diocese is closing some 80% of its parishes. And Netherlands is now the euthanasia capital of the world, so far as we can tell. Just a happy coincidence?

A Black Teen (16) was  interviewed for making an anti-violence video, then shot dead on the street in Newark. (He proved his point.)

Russian Bombers are becoming more aggressive at U.S. borders; American tourists find crime and anti-American harassment increasing in Russia. (But the Obama ‘reset’ made them love us, right?)

Wisconsin Governor and putative 2016 presidential candidate Scott Walker’s college years are being investigated by the Washington Post. Do you suppose they’ll do the same for President Obama while they’re at it?

A 23 year old man yelling “Black Power” ran a woman off the road in a road rage incident. We note that only 17% of 15 year old black boys are living with their parents; it is 54% for whites. Oh, and the road rager had 8 prior (petty) convictions.

The Federal tax revenue has set a new, all time record, naturally the new Obama budget spends 8.2% more than last year. (But we’re supposed to live on less than we make so we can give the difference to the government?)

An  Ice Breaker was rushing to free a fishing boat trapped in 16 feet of Ross Sea ice. (Global warming bulletin)

A Morgan Stanley Economist said that the currently ongoing currency wars (each country trying to devalue ahead of its neighbor) is a scary replay of the 1930’s. Not to worry: “Prosperity is just around the corner.”

Three Entrepreneurs: A 12 and a 15 year old boy and a 13 year old girl were arrested for running an Internet child porn enterprise.

And with that, what lies ahead of us in an another week?

  1. It is a mad, mad world out there.

The NE is freezing and buried in snow while I happen to be enjoying an unseasonable heat wave. It’s a bit amusing, my weather is clearly a sign of global warming, but if you flip the news channel, they will tell you that clearly the NE is evidence of the impending ice age.

    • Jack Curtis says:

Our current winter weather beats our normal Spring; our birds are making fools of themselves … unless they know something that we don’t. The East, as a temple to the warming faith, faces its just deserts; as I prefer to think, do we.
