GLEANINGS FROM THE PASSING SCENE … ( Politically Uncorrected)

Alfred_E__NeumannYour compendium  follows, delayed a day by the widespread American compulsion to stop and eat a turkey in Thanksgiving on the last Thursday  of November. Many of us don’t particularly lie to eat turkey, but  the social compulsion is powerful.  We hope you find the following of more interest than we found the dead bird …

A new amendment to a Senate bill will if approved, both increase taxes and add Federal taxation of certain Internet transactions, a goal over which the government has been drooling. The amendment has joint Democrat and Republican sponsors. Rise up and shoot this down … or wish that you had, seems to us.

Military chiefs in  Japan  have requested a crisis management arrangement with China as soon as possible. They seem to have noticed China expanding into a growing vacuum resulting from American retreat from areas it can no longer afford to police?  (Any bet re Japanese nukes in the offing?)

We’re told that the superrich are on average, holding 25% of their assets in cash. And further, that they no longer wish to rely on either the banks or Federal bonds. Were the government not so reassuring, we might think the times are becoming riskier …

The totals of Foreign Workers legalized by the Obama Administration since 2009 are about the same as the number of jobs created during that period. Well, as the religious folk put it: “The Lord giveth … and the Lord taketh away …” (While poor slobs like us holdeth the bag.)

Women claiming rape by Bill Cosby 30 years ago are accumulating but to date, supporting evidence seems scarce. The undoubted fact  so fa,seems to be that Cosby has a lot more money than his accusers. Still, there seem a lot of them. Not so many women however as apparently decorated the life of Martin Luther King, per FBI reports from his time.  We note cynically, that King was and remains a liberal icon while Cosby decries the liberal shtick on racial policies. But of course, that has nothing to do with it …

In a recent international ranking of countries according to their degree of personal freedom accorded their citizens, the U.S. came in below 20 others. What’s that old Scriptural line: “He who has eyes to see, let him see …” Or something.

The latest  Min Wage Propaganda  “Raising 2 kids on $600 mo from McDonalds”  describes a black lady who has worked 7 years flipping burgers and is now serving the SEIU, a union pushing to ‘organize’ the fast food field. If we are requiring all legal employment to pay at least enough to raise a family, we can see why all those illegals are invited in … (But add their  government goodies, they aren’t so cheap, are they?)

Two US Navy  ships collided in the Gulf of Aden. Hmnn … Does the Navy use Breathalyzers?

Cellphones    Will reveal your altitude as well as your location to trackers. (Does this mean the government will know when we’re high?)

The  Russian Rocket Engines  purchased by USAF through “a tiny Florida firm” that rakes off millions per engine are seemingly a double scandal. Bad enough that NASA can’t supply space transport but now we learn that the government can’t even buy it with competence.

The Obamafolk have given Iran another 7 months to work on their nukes while lying about it. Odd that the media haven’t mentioned the Arab promise to obtain their own nukes if Iran gains them. That ought to be news, a lot of folk would get quite a bang out of it.

A record $139 M settlement of a child sex abuse case was signed off by the Los Angeles school district.  Very quietly. Now, if it had been the Los Angeles Archdiocese, …

4 Year Old   shot a 3 year old neighbor.

According to the CDC, Abortions  now terminate 18% of all U.S. pregnancies. This is depressing; still, it is liberals murdering liberals …

A NYC  Restaurant   advertised on Craigslist for a “hostess” and was fined $5,000 by the city for excluding other genders. Hmnn … Wonder how we’d word an ad for a surrogate mom?

And a Naked Man  fell from an airport bathroom ceiling and assaulted an elderly traveler. It is a strange world in which we live …

So passed a week , together with a dead turkey, bringing the onset of the Christmas season before we have digested our cranberries. Will it be: “Merry Christmas!” or “Happy Holidays” this time around?

  1. the unit says:

Maybe Obama knows. He called for a breathalyzer when someone fainted in his audience.
