Gleanings From The Passing Scene … (Politically Uncorrected)

Alfred_E__NeumannOur Saturday Selections, (some annotated):

The Federal Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, wants government funded universal public preschool. Apparently, he finds a threat in what parents are teaching kids before age 6 … But maybe he just wishes to help working moms?

Public kindergarten through high Schools  are to receive $150 M for mental health screening  from the Feds.  (Hmnn … )

Cattle Prices   have moved to a new, all-time high … look for beef deliveries to your market accomplished by Brink’s trucks. But, the government assures us, there is no inflation.

Ferguson  ‘Activists’ are drilling protesters in tactics, preparing for the grand jury decision whether to lynch the cop who shot Michael Brown. A complete   Shutdown  is planned for nearby  Clayton; massive mobs are being organized  by ‘protesters’ in various cities with large black populations. (A spontaneous explosion is guaranteed.)

NSA Director  Stanford said in a speech that the NSA will deal with an increasingly encrypted Internet but the FBI Director complained that encryption is going too far. Moral: Government continues snooping: Edward Snowden was right.

And the Dept  of Justice  is snooping big time into citizens’ cell phones … from the air!

A Poll:  40% of women, 28% of men and 39% youth do not want jobs. (Recovery is bursting out all over!)

24%    Of Fed taxes are  paid by the wealthiest 1% of taxpayers … nice that somebody’s working …

Oct Fed Tax Revenue   Sets new tax revenue record … but the Federal deficit still exceeds $1000 a month for every U.S. household.

Drone Pilots are being hired by Amazon fo a planned delivery service. Gee, we used to worry only about pigeons and seagulls …

An elderly Woman  was pronounced dead but woke up in morgue   Morgue Awakenings  are apparently not so unusual as you’d think. (Be on good terms with your spouse if you take sleeping pills.)

Amnesty , per the New York Times, is pushed by very Big Bucks, in case you’ve wondered why both Congressional Democrats and Republicans have promised to pass it. Only voters seem opposed, and they’re out of action for two more years. Perhaps Congress will find itself helpless against the Prez and his pending Executive Order?

Growing numbers of the Homeless   are moving into and taking over New York City public parks … just another product of our economic recovery.

Russia  is threatening France; demanding delivery by 11/30 of the warship on order but held under NATO sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

Bangladesh  suffered an electrical power failure of the entire country, plunging 150 million people into darkness. Someone must have forgotten to insert the plug into India?

President    Obama  said that he wants to regulate the Internet like a utility, so that  it works for everyone . What might old Thomas Jefferson think of that?

California’s drought now features Water  being stolen in drought-stricken CA towns. And while that’s dry, it’s not humor.

Europe‘s   Share of world business earnings is collapsing. (The ‘recovery’ proceeds)

US Cities   Listed among world’s most violent:    Detroit, Baltimore, New Orleans , St. Louis.

Obamacare   Uninsured penalty to more than tripe (election is over).

A Women  tore up a McDonald’s when she was too late for the breakfast menu. A demonstration of female emancipation?

Smartphone Zombies  are  wreaking havoc on the streets …

Apparently, nobody stripped naked to do anything interesting this week; probably a symptom of the Arctic freeze brought to us by Global Warming ….

About Jack Curtis

Suspicious of government, doubtful of economics, fond of figure skating (but the off-ice part, not so much) Couple of degrees in government, a few medals in figure skating; just reading and suspicion for economics ...

  1. I came over to see what you had after you commented on my blog (the football ratings)!
This is great stuff – I love the one-liners. And, no, I will not be stripping either. It is Nov 16, I am looking out my window in central Indiana and there is 2 inches of fresh snow on the ground. That global warming is a real bummer here too.
