Fox News Volunteers The Prez To Solve More Of Other Folks’ Problems …

Obama CanuteSometimes the media remind us of a football coach who’s glad to give your life for his team. We listened to a few minutes of Fox News this evening. For perhaps 20 minutes (counting commercials)  we were fed repeated, awful descriptions of what the Moslems are doing to helpless Christians, Yazdi and others who aren’t Moslem plus those Moslems who don’t agree with their murderers. We were provided dead babies and pregnant women, schoolgirls sold ino sex slavery and enough gore to float an aircraft carrier. And every word was true.

The main theme punctuating it was President Obama’s  scurrilous neglect of his plain duty – and America’s plain duty – to do something to stop the awfulness abroad. Any listener not presently sold on the Prez would find himself nodding at the various points as they were made and standing up to applaud the call to arms. Unless he stopped a moment to think. There are some things that were not brought up, some things that merit some thinking.

First, speaking of Iraq and Syria as Fox did, while perfectly accurate, failed to consider the Moslem terrorism also going on elsewhere. Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Somalia, Kenya, Thailand, the Philippines, Yemen, and others. Is our vacationing Prez to ignore all but Iraq and Syria or is he to set straight the whole world? Then there’s a nice question: Islam accounts for some 23% of the world population; is Amreica somehow to sort out all of that? If someone says no, no, just Iraq and Syria, what will they want when you inform them that large numbers of ISIS and other such groups in both places are foreigners from elsewhere? And add that these outbreaks of Islamic murderousness have been breading out since the 7th Centurey? To finish these questions, no one is bringing up the bottom line: How are the cowboys riding to the rescue world wide or even just in Iraq, to be financed? A single Hellfire missile can cost some $80,000. How does a country that cannot fund its healthcare and retirement programs from its existing revenue, fund world military action?

We are not Obama fans but we try to be realists. How is our President to take on the world when he’s broke and how is he supposed to repeal the 7th Century Moslem conquests? Because that’s what will be needed to stop Islamic terrorism. King Canute, we’re told, commanded the tides to pause; are we expecting Obama to do the same with Islam? We already know that it didn’t work for Canute.

The media are doing no favors to slaughtered Christians nor to American citizens nor to President Obama when they wave bloody diapers at the mass audience. Aong the same line, we might as well save Ukraine from Russia, pacify central Africa and why not do it for Southeast Asia too?

Here in the U.S. we are seeing our middle class in steep decline, a moribund economy and declining world power. Isn’t there enough to do at home? We cannot save the world; all that can be done is the accelerated depletion of America, with nothing to show for it … jut as we contemplate now in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Islamic groups like ISIS are a horror indeed, but one that we did not create and one that we cannot cure. It will be enough for us to learn, in this time of declining power, how to confront them for ourselves. One set of Crusades was enough …

Everything you said was true. There is one solution, one that Obama would very much hate. That is to make America strong again, take back our success and fortune, allow fracking, build the pipeline, take back favored trade from everyone with a imbalance, yes possibly even Japan. Eliminate NAFTA and require ID for EVERYTHING. America will become so rich that everyone would want to duplicate it. It has happened before.

    • Jack Curtis says:

Indeed, it has happened before; it only stopped happening when Americans stopped going to church and their government replaced their God, seems to me. And that too, has happened before …

  2. There will always be suffering babies and those who think a tear- jerking shot is the best argument. But that is not how problems are solved. And identifying the problem does not mean you have the resources to solve the problem. Western democracies joining in the chaos, conflict and poverty of 3rd world countries is not going to help those countries. Get our own house/s in order, then we might be able to help.

  3. Michael says:

I am not sure religion would be the answer anymore, it seems so many religions are now communist. Name me one that isn’t…

    • Jack Curtis says:

Well, Islam for one … 🙂
But that’s one of the reasons the churches are empty, isn’t it? I don’t see any imminent return to the churches nor do I advocate it; I just see their abandonment as illustrating the loss of principle and cohesion that formed the recently Christian society that served us rather well while it lasted.

  4. Jim Teague says:

First they came for the gypsies and homosexuals. Then the Jews were rounded up and removed. Some didn’t clap and praise the Great Leader. Then one day on my street the people who didn’t….
Yes, paying for this is a problem. Maybe some unnecessary expenses need to be removed or we need to start sacrificing some of our play things with a return to the Greatest Generation attitude (gasp).

We could do it, but hey, its just a few Assyrians and Yazidis devil worshippers (and Sunni tribes and Syrian rebels and….) , not my church. Fortress America, everything is coming up roses here, who needs the world? Wow! Did you just see that basket? Now what are the Kardashians doing today?

    • Jack Curtis says:

Exactly so! It all revolves around our DNA; the cycles of societies rising and falling (when they’re not brought down by invasion) seems a reflection of our species’ nature. Not so comforting as it might be for individuals …
