Gleanings From The Passing Scene … (Politically Uncorrected)

Alfred_E__NeumannAnother week’s worth, bite sized for your selection:

Migraine sufferers may have a light at the end of their long, dark and painful tunnel; researchers are making progress (Follow the linkl)

Some 40,000 voters are registered in both Virginia and Maryland. While Republicans are pursuing voter fraud, we are more suspicious of voter registration incompetence servicing people who have moved their homes. Unhappy either way, of course …

Kill Switch legislation continues to pop up in Congress and the California legislature. These bills provide the government authority to shut off people’s cell phones. The government says it is to make stolen phones useless; the more suspicious note that  it can make organizing demonstrations difficult. Both, actually …

The Federal Energy Department is worried about the safety of our American power grid; they say it is too exposed to threats. This is in support of more government regulation to improve safety. Some folks see the primary threats as Federal energy policies, Congress and the EPA.

Folks are noticing that the new “Common Core” mandated student tests are liberally filled with major corporate brand names …Well, sure; the school bosses don’t care if the kids are educated but they are totally committed to producing motivated consumers.

Chicago public schools have been robocalling student’s parents, pushing food stamps and Obamacare. Appropriately, they are also adding black history to be taught as a part of all subjects.

Obamacareis slashing senior home health care services. It’s true that this area is open to fraud. It’s also true that a lot of seniors can’t manage without help.

A middle school teacher arrest was reported … for awarding a birthday boy with a lap dance, during class. The lap owner was just 15; the dancer/educator, 42. Betcha both learned something …24 Chicago high schools will offer free condoms.

Another big shot banker suicided after asking questions. If the government weren’t telling us how improved everything is, one might wonder a bit, right?

A new bride  shot her niece dead over who would drive home from a post-wedding bar visit.

The Feds will take the fingerprints of medical workers.

Chicago Easter: 9 dead, 37 wounded. New York City: Gang of young (one 12) teens nailed mugging in Central Park.  Detroit: Thousands of accumulated rape cases finally being processed.

Naps, per a study, can elevate death risk. Wake-up news, right?

A girl was stabbed to death for refusing her 16 year old recently ex boyfriend a prom date. A 14 year old boy was arrested for trying to beat an 87 year old woman to death. One in thirteen schoolkids is on psych meds …

You knew this was going to happen: A woman was implanted with another woman’s twins by mistake …

The gene researchers have cured a mouse of inherited liver disease. This sounds small, but it is a lot bigger than it seems. And heartening for those with genetic diseases … And scary for those worried about mad scientists monkeying with human DNA.

Finally, a citizen filed a $215,000 lawsuit over an alleged attack by a neighbor’s pet duck.

Thus our take on current events, a small window on our lives today. We hope you have found something of interest and something to think about …
