See, This Figure Skating Judge Walked Into A Bookie’s Office …

What's Missing Today...

What’s Missing Today…

American government is crooked as a dog’s hind leg from what we can see and you have Chicago, New York and the State of New Mexico available (with others) to study how it works. And yet, U.S. government is pretty clean compared to most of the world. And as the West casts off its original Christianity, it’s worsening.

Figure skating is governed by the same species, from the same places yet somehow, people seem to think it should be pure, clean and judged by saints. They ain’t no saints, folks! They work unpaid, love the sport and most are pretty honest, compared to the general population these days, anyway. But some, aren’t and some know which side of the bread gets the butter. Human DNA is like that. Except of course, you and me …

The Russian figure skating women’s gold medal surprised many and aroused a stink. Well, the sport is used to that, now. But this one is ongoing. Sports columnist Phil Hersh wrote of it; it grew to the point that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) felt that it had to deny it. Worse, it then had to admit that it had faked statements from South Korea’s Yuna Kim about the situation, trying to pour the silver medalist onto troubled judging waters. And recently, technical judging experts have pointed to allegedly miscalled portions of the Russian’s performance and the high (Russian) skating official involved in the technical judging.  Smelly!

Best get over it, seems to us. In a world where Presidents lie straight out on a weekly if not daily basis and graft and corruption are endemic, what can we expect from a judged sport with money and national prestige involved? We suggest that you can start looking for clean sports judges the day after you find that you can keep your doctor. Good figure skating is beautiful and well worth watching, but don’t pay attention to the judging. Off the ice, the sport is run by sports politicians. And you know what politicians are like. The skaters, they’re great! We think you should know by now.
