Gleanings From The Passing Scene…(Politically Uncorrected)

Alfred_E__NeumannReality has provided us another week; here are the gleanings thereof:

Life in a free country vignette: (video) Cleanliness may be next to Godliness, but it doesn’t seem to impress the police…

California is being sued for discrimination…by an illegal alien who can’t understand why the state won’t hire him. He has worked there already for years, using a fake Social Security number. He may have a case; the state isn’t that fussy about drivers’ licenses…

A 5 year old boy imitated a gun with his (bare) hand on the school playground, resulting in his suspension form school. Who knows, by first grade, he might otherwise be making bomb threats…

Ground beef has reached an all-time high price though we’re told inflation is nominal and tame. Imagine what it would cost if we had inflation?

California has been releasing prisoners early under a court order to relieve its overcrowded jails. The judges who sentence the criminals appear to be ignoring the judges who worry about them being overfilled. And after a few thousand releases, the crime rate went up. I wonder how you say: “Duh!” so a judge can understand it?

The knockout game again… Seems the perp took a video of his attack on an elderly man and posted it on a social network, along with his I.D. And we used to think kids had to be smart to operate in the techie age…

Syria...The boss running the top secular rebel group (that has been increasingly hassled by the Islamic terrorists faction) has fled the country. Hmnn…think there’s a message in there somewhere?

Al Gore (Remember him?) predicted five years ago that the Arctic would be ice-free now, as a result of climate change… You can see what the ice thinks here if you wish to check on Al’s vision.

New York City has welcomed yet another immigrant that arrived with nothing but the desire to work and has made it in America. This one is a new species of cockroach, one with the unique ability to thrive in cold weather. Permanent citizenship seems likely…

The number of Americans collecting disability benefits exceeds the population of Greece…

Bankrupt Detroit received a $25 M grant from the insolvent Feds to pay the firefighters union. Pardon, I mean, pay the firefighters. If you pay Federal taxes, you may await the thank-you note.

Finally, we were warned by the FDA that a new ADHD drug often prescribed for hyperactive kids (most often, boys) may cause protracted and painful erections…Recalling the school’s reaction to a boy pointing his finger (above) one must wonder how the public schools will deal with this, since they are the largest source of such medicating of kids…

And with that, the latest week has passed, leaving these nuggets to mull.

About Jack Curtis

Suspicious of government, doubtful of economics, fond of figure skating (but the off-ice part, not so much) Couple of degrees in government, a few medals in figure skating; just reading and suspicion for economics ...
