Gleanings From The Passing Scene..( Politically Uncorrected)

What Me Worry ObamaAnother Saturday, another helping from present reality (One sort or another)

A group of college kids, illegal offspring of illegal parents, have sued their state for cheaper tuition at the state college. They feel entitled to pay the rates of resident citizens… They may not be true citizens, but they seem to have the attitude!

Chicago: In 2913, nearly 2,000 people were shot and 329 were killed. While the factories have moved overseas, production continues, though perhaps demolition would be a better fit.

New York City’s very Liberal new Mayor, Bill de Blasio, has the job he wanted, along with the financial crisis attached. Health care costs are up, the Feds and the state want to cut their subsidies but the unions that so supported the new Mayor now want raises…

Germany has requested the return of its gold, long stored at the Federal Reserve. The report says that the Fed has refused, while those conspiracy theorists who say that there is no longer gold at Fort Knox, snicker. We remain unsurprised, recalling the ancient adage: “Gold is where you find it.”

Poverty, we hear, is the new normal, replacing the now outdated American Dream. Should we then, get used to it?

Financially challenged California’s legislators have voted themselves a 5.3% raise, to more than $95,000 annually. We guess that they want to get theirs before reality removes it from their reach. We note that New Mexico’s lawmakers receive no salary, though evidence that they are either more or less honest than those of the Golden State, is sparse.

Back at the recession, the George Washington Bridge to New York City costs truckers paying cash tolls $120 per crossing from Ft. Lee, NJ. NYC’s famously stratopheric living costs aren’t so mysterious after all…

Knockout Game update: A 63 year old man in Philadelphia, by 4 black teens. We note the safety consciousness of the perpetrators of this; we’ve yet to read of an assault on anyone who appeared able to defend himself.

An Obamacare critic, a cancer patient who lost his insurance under the new law and spoke up about it, is now being audited by the IRS. We are certain that there is no connection and that the President knows nothing about it.

President Obama calling for a higher minimum wage is a much nicer image than his rollout of Obamacare, even if he didn’t explain where the money would come from. Of course, that’s not entirely clear with Obamacare…

The number of U.S. banks now is the smallest since the Great Depression.

During an argument over a shopping cart at WalMart between two members of The Gentle Sex, one of them pulled a stun gun. Hmnn… Don’t annoy her…

Over 1,000 places have seen new record low temperatures; haven’t they heard about global warming?

An Executive Order from the Prez requires all Federal operations – including the military- to up their usage of renewable energy to 20% by 2020. How that will be either accomplished or paid for is left to those concerned with minor details.

The robots now being used to do surgery may stall during an operation, per the maker’s recall notice. We prefer not to think about that if we can help it.

Cash donations were stolen from a Salvation Army Kettle; a new sign of our economic recovery, no doubt.

Those TSA security folk aren’t just at airports anymore; they’re setting up warrantless auto inspection checkpoints around the country.

And finally, an enterprising fellow up with the times, found a quick and easy way to get a friend time off from work… He called in a bomb threat.

We receive complains when reality fails to serve up amusing events. That’s the trouble with reality, it does as it pleases. Our species must look pretty funny from the standpoint of any uncommitted observer and in weeks like this one, that’ll have to do…
