Brain Science Contributes Toward More Wine At Dinner…

Whose Side Is It On, Anyway?

Whose Side Is It On, Anyway?

A scientist in one place used the Internet to control the hand of a second scientist elsewhere. The two brains were connected to the internet by electronic caps the men wore on their heads. That has never been accomplished before. And it’s scary!

Does this mean, I can put a cap on you and make you do as i please? No…not yet. But can that be ruled out of the near future? I hope so. What about memory; we can make you forget things already with plain old electroshock treatment. We can’t do it selectively or with any control, it just happens… or not. But these mad scientists are learning about memory in the brain, too. Selecting memories to expunge looks reasonably likely. And mice are being given fake memories now, too. See, the brain is a recording machine and we’re beginning to be able to record and delete files.

This leaves me wondering a couple of things: First, when this is developed and available, what will the government do with it?

And second: This suggests that our ‘free will’ may turn out no more than our brains’ computations running under our DNA programming. What will the government do with that? And the churches?

I may have a second glass of wine with my dinner tonight…
