First, lets take a brief retrospective:
The Benghazi murder of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya has disappeared from the news and so has the Congressional ‘investigation’ that was to elicit the truth for us. We know that the U.S. Department of Justice armed substantial numbers of drug cartel killers who killed at least one U.S. border agent. That story, called: “Fast and Furious,” has also faded without elucidation. Our government, promised by then candidate Obama to be a model of openness and clarity, seems to be rather less than those.
Our Prez himself is now famous for, among other things, heralding loudly and in public and unfortunately on the record, that his signature “Obamacare” would be cheaper, provide better service and assure that patients could retain their existing doctors. Oh, and it was not going to contribute to the deficit. We know now that none of those are true.
So what are we to think of the pronouncements of this government now? We hear that the mysterious Saudi ‘person of interest’ from the bombing is being quietly deported for unstated ‘security reasons’ back to Saudi Arabia; no explanation. It appears that his family is big time VIP Saudis…
Two Chechen brothers are fingered almost immediately (how?). The only reported evidence was security photos of two men How were they separated out from all the other men there? Maybe cell phone records? But these guys weren’t uneducated. Their relatives immediately claim they were set up, they were innocent. The first one is ‘apprehended’ dead, apparently after having killed a cop. The second, hiding under a tarpaulin-covered boat in a back yard, is immediately subjected to a fusillade of bullets that sounds a bit like the cops were holding off a massed infantry attack. It’s claimed that he was apprehended alive, though in serious condition. If in fact he is alive, that is clearly the god of random sticking his hand into the affair. It’s said that the brothers’ living quarters or their car housed another pressure-cooker bomb. What’s the truth?
Who knows? Will we ever know? Well, do we all feel we understand the assassination of President Kennedy? And the media were still mostly on our side then, right? Or we thought so, anyway.
So what do we know and not know? We know that the U.S. Government has a very close relationship with Saudi Arabia. We know that a lot of innocent people were blown up in Boston via the application of considerable effort, know-how and not a little money and planning. We don’t know why, though the first thing any terrorist does is loudly claim ‘credit’ for his act; if he doesn’t, what’s the point in the first place? That’s why they always–always–choose targets that command maximum attention. But in Boston, no one appeared to claim credit…odd, that. With the internet, it’s so easy!
The relatives claiming the brothers were set up are classic; the first thing a felon does is claim: “I was framed!” We know that. But the first thing a government does is: “Round up the usual suspects!” and we know that, too. The first brother is too dead to interview; if the second dies too soon, that will seem very inconvenient…or very convenient.
Too many pronouncements of our government and its ever-helpful media are failing the reality test. John Randolph famously said of an opponent: “He shines and stinks like a mackerel by moonlight.” As this government unfolds before us, that comes to mind again…
