Gleanings From the Current Scene…(Politically Uncorrected)

What Me Worry ObamaQuestion arising from Boston Bombs event at the Boston Marathon: We are told that these sorts of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED’s) imported now from Iraq and Afghanistan are often triggered by using cell phones from a safe distance. Why are we allowing people to have cell phones? (There’s no troublesome Constitutional Amendment involved here!)

Also from the Boston Bombing is this little question: Looters tells us of the scramble among spectators at the bombing to run and grab the gear of the injured runners. Would this have been expected back when wives stayed home and most went to church? Hmnn?

Congress, they say, has reacted to the Boston Bombing by removing all the trash cans on Capitol Hill. That raises multiple questions: What will now be done with all the output from Congress? What will happen to the trash of all the Washington tourists with no place to  deposit their droppings? How will all the loyal Democrats employed to empty those trash cans be kept on the payroll? Presumably, following its normal patterns, Congress will begin by closing all the fast food joints…

One Congressman has already reacted to the bombing by demanding more cameras watching the public, everywhere. For some incomprehensible reason, personal privacy folk seem to object. Somebody needs to straighten them out…if it saves even one life, what’s wrong with mandating a camera attached to every bathtub sold to the public?

School improvement, long demanded but never delivered, is as is well known though seldom admitted, held off by the teachers, their unions and their entrenched politicians heavily invested in the status quo. Another small portion of the reality has leaked out in New York, where a test boycott is going on among low-information parents intent on keeping their kids in that same category…

Also, 2 Dead in Home Invasion explains what homeowners are likely to do if they are allowed to retain their guns, thus the ability to defend themselves from armed attackers in the (by now out-of-date standards) sanctity of their own home. We haven’t heard whether they will be prosecuted…

Finally, a curious statistic, the meaning of which I am considering: The government now spends, per household, more than the median household income.

Peace and love, brother and sister… the government can’t provide either and they’re both free… sort of.

About Jack Curtis

Suspicious of government, doubtful of economics, fond of figure skating (but the off-ice part, not so much)
