Bloodied Boston is a signal. Our ventures to Iraq and Afghanistan gave rise to ‘Improvised Esplosive Devices’ (IED’s) and they have-unsurprisingly- followed our troops home. So, in a fearless prediction, will drone killings. Further prediction: various levels of government will react by imposing increasing restrictions on our freedom to do as we wish. But the levels of domestic violence will continue increasing, the ongoing loss of freedom will only add to the damage without reducing the violence.
We have made this ourselves. America has become a working girl reacting like an indignant virgin, a hypocrisy rooted in self-delusion. Congressman Ron Paul reported during his presidential run, some 900 U.S. military installations in 130 countries. We’ve been spending nearly $50 B a year on foreign countries. The last surviving ‘superpower’ has been throwing its weight around, in case you’re one who wonders why we are unloved in the world.
Add to that, we’ve invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, two countries that did not attack us, piling up deaths and destruction to no visible purpose. Iraq and Afghanistan civilian deaths are debated but they far exceed American military losses as the linked reports show. Those underlie a lot of people with reasons to resent America.
Americans, reflecting our traditionally Christian sensibilities, felt superior to the murderous Nazis during WWII. Then we abandoned those sensibilities in pursuit of free sex without responsibility and replaced God with Government in search of security. The 50 M plus aborted babies since are challenging the Nazis accomplishments and as they are ongoing, will surpass them before too long. Some number of them, had they lived, might have been Jews… Having reduced human life from sanctified to a commodity, we now enjoy in addition to abortion, mobs of ‘wilding’ teens attacking defenseless folk on the streets and mobbing and looting stores. We have crazies shooting victims at wholesale, carjacking, home invasions and drive-by shootings, all of which have proliferated in our now post-Christian society. We have worked to set this stage and we are now seeing the play we have produced.
Murderous Moslems provided the 9/11 lesson writ high visibility amplified by the government and the media. The government battened upon the ‘handy crisis’ and President Bush gave us the TSA at airports, now covering bus and train terminals and experimenting with highway inspections on our interstates. It seems fair then, to conclude that two beneficiaries have profited from the changes we –yes, we—have made in our society: those who gain by violence, and government.
From the World Trade Center to Boston’s Marathon was a lengthy hiatus, now ended. We have, by abandoning our ‘uptight’ Christianity-based society, also abandoned the protective walls it created; we have let in the winds. And those who sow the winds, we should remember, shall reap the whirlwinds…
