Corny Copter Takes Tacos To Town…

With Iraq and Afghanistan closing, we’ve been told the drones are coming home with the troops and Congress has ordered the FAA to be ready. Some yankee go-getters seem to be thinking ahead: Tacocopter Would Deliver Tacos Via Unmanned Drone tells of it.

Seems to this writer a few little problems might need addressing before you order, though. I guess Google can find addresses all right but can you see drones flying down apartment hallways? And since high-rise windows mostly don’t open, will we be sharing an elevator with a drone some night? How about trees in the suburbs at night? Maybe we’ll see little spotlights like the police helicopters use (smaller, of course) flashing across the city and into darkened windows looking for…never mind. The tacos would go cold by then anyway.

Those police helicopters bring up a thought: the cops have a long history of free tacos and such; this falls (literally, maybe) right into that tradition. Could be a Godsend…excuse me, could be very fortuitous on long stakeouts, too.

The last unknowns of course are: what would this do to the tacos? How would one be assured of retrieving the vehicle, say from some model-airplane crazed juvenile? And can a tacocopter make change? Finally, how do you tip one, and how much would be proper?

Sounds like a great idea but maybe it needs a little refining…and someplace to put the salsa.

I think the drones have potential for this; or perhaps traffic control…
