Not long ago, being called a bastard may not have been uncommon, but it was usually inaccurate; now it’s the new normal. Most Births to Those Under 30 Are to Unwed Moms explains how so. It’s still not nice, though. And as the article explains, those kids are behind an eightball from birth.

The glaring exception is women with college degrees; they still marry before mothering. The New York Times–correctly–worries that we’re becoming a society with a small, educated class running things and hordes of ignorant peons living in poverty. True, seems to me; that’s how all collectivist societies have always ended up, in varying degrees. Their unproductive economics guarantee it…Well, that may reverse the flow from Lain America nortwards, right?

Makes one wonder who’s going to be working and inventing us out of our degenerating economy, though…

    The simplistic answer is to phase out benefits—no taxpayer-funded cash support for solo parents, regardless. If private charities wish to support ‘bastards’, that’s what freedom is all about; choice.
