U.S. Ice Dance Champions

The figure skating world of 2012 is upside down in the U.S. Long known for ice queens and occasionally for ice kings, the American ice dancers have been also-ran performers internationally for decades and almost equally unnoticed at home. Not now.

America’s and World champions Meryl Davis and Charley White won another national title with two athletically difficult and musically expressive performances that will not be easily met by any other current couple on the globe; they are setting the standard.

There was also competition for ladies, men, and pairs at which no polished, world-level talent appeared, with the exception of veteran also-ran Alissa Cizny, who did not win.
